7.5 MW alkaline electrolysis plant in Romania

A 7.5 MW electrolyser plant in Romania supporting green hydrogen production from wind and solar power.

Metacon was selected as prime integrator for a 7.5 MW green hydrogen production system for Elektra Power SRL, Metacon’s first contract award in the Romanian market. The system converts excess wind power into green hydrogen, with the produced hydrogen intended for sale to industrial projects in the region. Built on pressurized alkaline electrolysis technology through Metacon’s OEM partnership with Peric, it is delivered and managed end-to-end by Metacon as system supplier.

Turning excess wind into a sellable industrial product

Elektra Power SRL is a Romanian renewable energy developer with an active pipeline in wind and hybrid energy systems. The concept behind this project is straightforward: capture excess wind power that would otherwise go to waste and convert it into green hydrogen, then sell that hydrogen to industrial customers across the region.

At 7.5 MW, the system sits in the mid-scale segment, well above pilot deployments and matching the output of wind or hybrid renewable assets. Metacon provides a fully packaged, proven electrolyzer system and handles technology selection, integration, auxiliary equipment, and delivery.
